    About this scene

    Jax and Pomni sit out a game whose object is shooting each other, and it turns into the show's clearest statement about what being stuck in there costs. At just under ten lines a minute this is the slowest-talking pack in the library, and that is the difficulty: two of the thirty lines run past thirteen seconds each — Jax's speech about being somebody in the real world, then Pomni's decision — so you hold a character for a quarter of a minute at a stretch with no handoff to hide behind. Twenty-five of the twenty-nine handoffs still overlap underneath that, so the long takes have to start before the other voice has finished. Line one is “So... Who you gonna kill first Pom Pom?” and line thirty is “Pfft. That's... kinda cringe.”, and everything the scene is about happens between them.
