About this scene
The pilot-episode house call that made Smiling Friends famous: Pim and Charlie arrive to cheer up Desmond, a giant blank-faced man sitting in the dark with a gun, while his mom beams like nothing is wrong. The load-bearing part is Pim's — he swings from squeaky pep to genuine tenderness inside single lines, and his closing 'yaaaaay' has to carry both at once. Charlie's deadpan 'wowowowowow' is harder than it reads, and Desmond only gets five lines, so make the flattest one land.
