About this scene
The Cullens play baseball in a thunderstorm because that is the only time nobody hears them hit the ball. Eight speakers over twenty-six lines and no one gets more than seven, so it plays like a family standing around rather than a scene — Bella asking why, Emmett shouting, Esme umpiring a game she knows is rigged. Five of the lines are nothing but breathing, grunting and exhaling, which in a pack this sparse is a third of what you actually perform. Our third Twilight scene, and the only one with no romance in it at all.
