    About this scene

    Six voices, fifty-nine lines and a jailbreak that keeps stopping to argue. It opens on Donkey demanding his Miranda rights and closes on the Muffin Man, and the middle is the underwear exchange — “Are not!” “Are too!” four times in eight seconds — which is the fastest thing in the pack and the easiest to rush. Gingy and Shrek take thirteen lines each, Donkey and Pinocchio ten, and about a quarter of the pack is grunts, ows and one spat-out mouse, so it is as much a physical performance as a spoken one. At a hundred and forty seconds it is the longest here, and the last line is a setup, not a punchline.
